Victor von Frankenstein

Quote:

“Welcome! To Cirque do Goumaden, and to my humble abode. I invite you in, so you may see but a glimpse of my day to day life! To a little something I call… TRUE… ENTERTAINMENT!!”

~ Victor von Frankenstein

“Diadem is paradisiacal in nature, and many people become… bored with the constant contentness and humdrum boredom. So much so they may even go… insane.”

~ Victor von Frankenstein

Profession:

Ringmaster of the circus Cirque du Goumaden.

History:

Dr. Victor von Frankenstein runs Cirque du Goumaden, a stadium-sized red, purple, black, and gold tent that sets up in Diadem for six weeks a year, three shows a day. Every act is nightmare themed: razor wire tightropes, a working guillotine, knife throwing into the nosebleeds, a real firewalk, and an escape from a vat of black ooze with a monster inside. He believes Diadem’s paradise drives people mad with boredom, and that a touch of the terrifying renews their minds.

His signature act is “the dark art of fusion,” in which pairs of performers seem to merge into one being mid-stunt in a sphere of black, pink, and blue magic, though he admits it is only a conveyance of a curious possibility. A pair of his former performers left the circus the day before Halloween ten years ago to go into business for themselves, the year the show was delayed to October by the drill explosion. That night, a boy in a hoodie who was upset the act was not real fusion actually fused them, creating a five year old girl who became Vivid.

Victor met Vivid as an orphan who kept sneaking out to watch his show. She returned every year even after her adoption and became his knife thrower when she came of age, until her disappearance, after which a young woman named Coco filled the role. Dorrin and Vivid later learned the story of her origin from him. Victor is one of the few known people on the island living with a greatly extended lifespan who does not hide it.
