Quote:

“Thank you for everything. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without you, and I am so damn grateful for that. Wherever you are, I just hope you know… you are now, and always will be, loved.”

~ Peyton, at his father’s funeral

“Welcome to Warton’s! Can I help you find anything?”

~ Peyton

Bulldog

Gender:

Male

Profession:

Bookstore employee, now owner of Warton’s Books after his father’s death.

History:

Peyton is the son of Warton Tarbh, the former King of Diadem and owner of Warton’s Books. Growing up, his father brought him to the bookstore’s storytime hours, took him along on every trip to the Grand Library, and read him every new children’s book the night he found it. His father’s way of reading information back is what got Peyton through school, and he later studied at Diadem University.

After Warton became the only fatality of the gold dust epidemic, Peyton gave a nervous, tearful, and deeply loved eulogy at his funeral in the Gray Demesne, steadied by Thanatos playing piano. He spoke of his father as the kindest, strongest, most morally upright man he ever knew. Through Thanatos’ power, the spirit of his father could be seen standing beside him, patting his shoulder with a warm smile.

Peyton took over the bookstore afterward, still sending newcomers to the Grand Library and asking them to return his father’s old copy of The Phantom Tollbooth so the next generation could be inspired by it. He later stood up at Miranda’s concert to vouch for the Kings of Kings, who showed his father’s funeral immense respect. His father was killed by accident by Nash, who had broken in to burn the store’s history books.
