Jaylah works at Diadem’s compost facility, in the Northwest Outskirt known as the Trash Zone, where the city’s food waste and non-recyclables end up alongside the recycling plant, the junkyard, and the burn pit.

• After the Diadem was opened to the world, part of the Trash Zone was cleared to make room for an airport and helicopter zone.
