Profession:
Master of the Orange Demesne, the Desert, and librarian of the Grand Library. Known as Conroy the Curious King, believing in knowledge. Holder of the Sanskrit Chronicle.
History:
Conroy Kaksteist is the personified concept of time and WHEN, the keeper of Diadem’s history. His demesne is a desert of three pyramids: an arena, a laboratory, and the Grand Library, a seemingly endless magical library whose card catalog shows every book it can think of unless you ask for something specific. When he cannot answer a question, an orange-furred hand slides the right book across the counter. He inspired a five year old Warton to open his bookstore, and still keeps track of the late fees.
Every newcomer is asked to step into his laboratory’s chronomancy chamber, which reads their minds and writes new books from their knowledge, powered by his Regalia, the stone panel he calls the Sanskrit Chronicle. Caelum is his protégé, running experiments in the lab and blowing himself across the room. The Chamberlins came closer to beating Conroy than any other Master after Arledge, until they fought each other instead.
Someone destroyed every book on Diadem’s history in his hidden underground vault, leaving only a burnt chronology tome that had been on loan. When Morana and Whittaker visited, Conroy embraced Whittaker as his brother, and had Morana, a mortal with intimate knowledge of the island’s history, step into the chamber to write a brand new Diadem’s Chronology. Forbidden from simply telling mortals the truth, he read it aloud instead, revealing Zeroth’s story and that the Masters are pieces of God.
He handily defeated Stan of the Diadem Daily in the arena pyramid, trying to teach the furious young man as he did, and fought the Kings of Kings with a stone buckler, rewinding himself out of harm’s way and moving faster than the eye can follow. He met the Marauders’ Demesne Invasion at the door and sent them home, having seen every move coming.
